Brands on Pinterest

By NMC Account Coordinator Whitney Moreau
Unless you’ve been hiding out since late last year, you’ve heard of Pinterest—even if you’re my technology-repelled and totally disinterested father (sorry, Dad). As a self-proclaimed Pinterest fanatic, I ask you, what is more fun (i.e. addictive) than shuffling through thousands of photos of fluffy pets, easy crock-pot recipes and do-it-yourself home improvement projects?
What people may not realize though is that while Pinterest is wonderful for organizing personal inspiration, this visually-driven social media platform is working for brands, too—all types of brands—small and large, profit and nonprofit, retail and service.
The key to an effective Pinterest account for a brand is determining and sharing the visual components of the business.
People will ignore you if you use your business Pinterest profile to only push out sales messages. Instead, use the stimulating site to showcase your organization’s unique personality, strong philosophy, and what you stand for.
Check out NMC’s Pinterest account, for example (and be sure to follow us!). We share our logos and Web designs, but we also have an entire board dedicated to NMC fun with our best asset—our employees!
If that doesn’t persuade you to dabble on the site, to date Pinterest is the fastest-growing social media website. With 11.5 million users, the network drives more referral traffic than Google+, LinkedIn, and YouTube combined.
Because Pinterest is different than the social media websites you’re probably most familiar with, NMC is hosting a Pinterest Boot Camp for businesses and organizations looking to create an effective presence and reach different audiences on the network. Scheduled on Thursday, August 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Senator Inn & Spa in Augusta, the boot camp will cover everything from Pinterest basics and terminology to brand benefits and strategies to copyright infringement concerns.
To learn more and register, please visit bootcamp.marshallpr.com/pinterest, or contact me, Whitney, at wmoreau@marshallpr.com or (207) 620-9071.
Hope to see you all there!
