Kingfield Maine

First Friday Artwalk in Kingfield

This week’s Friday Fab Foto comes from NMC Account Assistant, Erika Bush, and from my visit to the Kingfield Artwalk last Friday. We had done publicity for the event, which featured Maine artist, Claudia Diller, a horse-drawn wagon and a raffle at the Schoolhouse Gallery!

The Kingfield Artwalk takes place October through April, on the first Friday of each month. Stop by on Friday, April 5, 2013 to see the charm Kingfield has to offer! Top Left: Penny Hall; Bottom Left: Senator Tom Saviello and Nancy Marshall; Center: Jenny Taliadoros; Top Right: Cynthia Orcutt and children getting ready to choose the raffle winner; Bottom Right: Artwork on display at Webster Library

Other featured artists/works included:

  • Katherine Mahoney of Carrabassett Valley
  • Paintings by Abby Shahn, Abbott Meader and Dimitri Karabchievsky
  • Prints by Ellen Roberts and Joel Levasseur
  • Sculptures by Melita Westerlund and Amanda Pellerin
  • Miniatures by Meryl Klaif
  • Encaustic paintings by Ulrike Stadler
  • Stained glass by Pat Pray from Lexington
  • Leslie Meyer from LSM Studios in Athens
  • Noni Badershall of Freeman who makes Sheppard rugs from the wool produced on her farm
  • Live demonstrations wire sculpture work at the Sugarloafer Shop by Karen Campbell
  • Samplings of handmade books by Jenny Taliadoros, Jan Royall, Karen Reid and Penny Hall

The Kingfield Artwalk takes place October through April on the first Friday of each month. It’s a great stop on your way up to Sugarloaf for the weekend and offers a quintessential charm that can only be found in western Maine.

Take Time To Admire the View

Full Moon Over Kingfield  I rush around the State of Maine in my car so much of the time that I rarely stop to admire the view.  However I typically have a camera with me because I take photos of press conferences and other special events for my clients.

So I was walking out of the Orange Cat Cafe in Kingfield a couple weeks ago, and looked out over the field toward the Carrabassett River, and saw this amazing view. Thank goodness I had my camera in my back seat. I snapped a photo so I could remember how beautiful that full moon was on that January afternoon.

The old saying goes: “Take time to smell the roses.”  Well the roses weren’t in bloom in Kingfield on this January afternoon, but the full moon sure was!

Happy Halloween!

halloweenHappy Halloween from the Maine PR Maven!

I still haven’t decided what I am going to be for Halloween. I’ve been working on my computer all morning today, so this afternoon I need to get into my closet and figure something out.  What would I wear other than my normal clothes if I wanted to be the Maine PR Maven?  Hmmm, I will need to think about that. I may be heading to Kingfield tonight for the Halloween Spooktacular at the Herbert Grand Hotel.

My friend and fellow alumna of Colby College, Heidi Murphy, owner of the local newspaper, The Irregular,  alerted me to this event. Thanks Heidi!
