Three Golds from the Maine Public Relations Council Golden Arrow Awards for NMC

I’m happy to announce that Nancy Marshall Communications was awarded three Gold Awards at the Maine Public Relations Council Golden Arrow Awards Ceremony this past Thursday, October 14th.

The first award was in the technology category for the Saddleback Maine website.  When we created this site, our clients wanted to showcase the natural beauty of the Rangeley Lakes Region with big, bold photography. We wanted to be sure they benefitted from the best search engine optimization, so we carefully crafted the copy so it highlighted the key words that we knew people were searching on. The result?  A beautiful site that is highly optimized for the search engines.

The purpose of this event is to bring represntatives from the Maine tourism industry to New York City and create a marketplace exclusively for members of the travel media. We have had the opportunity to garner considerable national publicity in such publications as O the Oprah Magazine, the CBS Morning News and the Today Show through contacts made at this event. Not only do we have representatives of the tourism industry but we also serve an amazing array of Maine seafood specialties and Maine-made drinks.  It’s an event that everyone loves to attend, and evidently the Golden Arrow judges deemed it to be an excellent public relations initiative, as well. Launched a New Website for our Client, Saddleback Maine

Today we launched a new website for our client, Saddleback Maine. This is the third website we have created for Saddleback and I believe they keep getting better. We worked hard to show big beautiful images of the beautiful scenery, while also including optimized copy.  Thanks to the NMC team as well as the Saddleback team for their hard work on this site.  Since we at Nancy Marshall Communications do both the PR and the internet marketing for Saddleback, we have the opportunity to merge the two things we love to do most: create beautiful websites then leverage their exposure on the internet through great public relations. Check out the EStore which we are really proud of:  here you can buy concert tickets, seasons’ passes and Saddleback souvenirs through this online store featuring the latest and greatest in eCommerce functionality. Very exciting technology for NMC, for Saddleback, and for the Great State of Maine!

Speaking of optimized copy, I read a really good blog post today called Nip and Tuck, Three Secrets of Great Web Copy. The message echoes exactly what I wrote about last week with regard to writing naturally as opposed to loading up your web copy with your key words. I encourage you to check it out and to write naturally, as opposed to writing copy that is merely a list of your key words repeated over and over and over…..

How the World of PR Has Changed In the New Century (for the better!)

Many of you know that my agency is handling the PR and Web site for Saddleback Maine where they are currently building the largest glade in the East. It’ll be called Casablanca, not after the famous movie but after a ‘streamer fly’ which is famous for catching trophy trout in the Rangeley Lakes Region. All the trail names at Saddleback are fly fishing-related.

So last week Icalled Scott Thistle, who is regional editor at the Lewiston Sun Journal, and in a previous life a ski patroller at Sugarloaf. I invited him and his buddy/photographer Russ Dillingham to head up to Saddleback and do a story about “A Day In a Life of a Glade Cutter.”  Not only did they go and create a two-page feature that appeared in the newspaper on Sunday November 15, but they also did a video that appeared on their Web site, called “The Sawyers of Casablanca Movie.” Continue reading

Saddleback Web site Goes Live!

mt_top

Each time my team launches a new Web site, it feels like giving birth to a  beautiful baby child. Launching a new site brings the culmination of  all the pain of deadlines and hard work, combined with the sheer joy of bringing something new and exciting into the world.

Today we launched the new site for our ski area client, Saddleback Maine. Please check it out at www.saddlebackmaine.com and let me know what you think. As with any site, it’s a work in progress and we will be adding to it and changing it as we learn from the site’s visitors (especially from you!) what they like and don’t like.

Congratulations to the team at Marshall Interactive for their hard work on bringing this new site into the world.
